1.study English/English study

study English是动宾结构，意思是“学英语/研究英语”。

例如I like studying English .我喜欢学英语。

English study是名词短语，意思是“英语学习/研究”。例如：

English study should be insisted on.英语学习/研究应该坚持.

2.before long/long before

before long 是介词短语，意思是“不久以后”，通常与将来时连用。例如：We’ll be back before long.我们很快就回来。

long before 是固定搭配，意思是“很久以前”，通常与过去时态连用。例如：

We heard of him long before.我们很久以前就听说过他。

3.hand in /in hand

hand in 是动词短语，意思是“上交”。例如：

Must our exercise books be handed in after class?我们的作业本必须在课后交吗？

in hand是介词短语，意思是“掌握住，在掌握之中，正在进行”。例如： She has enough data in hand.她的手里有足够的资料。

We have the situation well in hand.我们完全掌握着局势。

4. too much /much too

too much可以用作副词，也可以用作形容词，意思是“太多、过于”。用作副词时，在剧中作状语。例如：

His father was too much surprised to see him here.

她的爸爸看到他到这儿非常吃惊。

用作形容词是，常用来修饰不可数名词。例如：

He drank too much beer last night.他昨晚酒喝得太多。

too much 用作名词时，在句中作主语、宾语或表语。例如：Too much was happening all at once.同时发生的事太多了。

It’s too much for me.这个我干不了。

much too是固定搭配，通常用来修饰形容词或副词，意思是“极其、非常、实在太”。例如：

This problem is much too difficult for me to work out.这个问题非常难，我算不出来。

5.good for/for good

good for可以用在动词之后，构成固定搭配，意思是“对…有好处、有益”。例如：

Milk is good for children.牛奶对儿童有益。

good for用作固定搭配是，意思是“价值为...、有效地、对…有用的”。

例如：That is a bike good for 400 yuan.

那是一辆价值为400元的自行车。

for good 是介词短语，意思是“永远，永久”。例如：

He says that he’s leaving the country for good.

他说他出国后就不再回来了。

    这种把次序改编，意思就发生变化的现象还有很多。例如：Class One一班/one class一节课、一个班级，in all总共 (相当于altogether)/all in疲惫到了极点、筋疲力尽了。
